{"id":1666,"date":"2015-01-09T14:05:03","date_gmt":"2015-01-09T19:05:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pointestcharlesartschool.org\/?p=1666"},"modified":"2015-05-23T11:13:31","modified_gmt":"2015-05-23T15:13:31","slug":"started-scrapbook","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointestcharlesartschool.org\/fr\/started-scrapbook\/","title":{"rendered":"Beginnings"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row][vc_column]<div class=\"vcex-spacing wpex-w-100 wpex-clear\" style=\"height:50px\"><\/div>[vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-family: helvetica;\">How it All Started &#8211; An Album<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px;\">This is a short visual story of how the Pointe-St-Charles Art School was\u00a0 founded by artists Barry MacPherson, Louise Drouin and Catherine Wells.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px;\">It was a dark and stormy night&#8230; well no, actually, it was a sunny day in June&#8230;\u00a0 Although we had been talking about the school all last winter, it was in late Spring when Barry, Louise and I\u00a0 began earnest to make plans to open a new art school in the Pointe. We met mostly at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liliandoli\">Lily and Oli&rsquo;s<\/a>, a little caf\u00e9 on Notre Dame, and they didn&rsquo;t mind if we stayed all day on their terrace. Many plans were made over coffee there, I can tell you. We moved on to Louise&rsquo;s house as we started needing a bit more space &#8211; the paperwork was starting to accumulate and we had to be able to spread out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px;\">In early July, Barry was cycling around, looking for places to rent for the school and they saw a sign posted at 805 Hibernia. As far as an art school goes, the place was to die for, as they say &#8211; spacious and bright with natural light coming in from skylights, and a garden!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px;\">We made arrangements to move our easels and tables in by September, and started offering classes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 12px;\">The rest is history &#8211; which you can see from this album of photos taken over the last six or seven months. I&rsquo;ll post more stories as we go along and more pictures.
